Entering the frozen Oeschinensee and ice skating / ice skating

Modified on Wed, 8 Jan at 6:33 AM

Safety first: The frozen Oeschinensee may only be entered with an official permit/authorization. This is non-negotiable - your safety depends on it. You can find out what you should do before entering the ice here:
Always check the current status on our website www.oeschinensee.ch and on site at Oeschinensee on the information screens. Speak to a ranger for up-to-date information.
Note on skating on the frozen Oeschinensee:
* There is no infrastructure on site, such as changing rooms or skate hire.
* If the ice is covered with snow, skating is no longer possible. If conditions permit, the UNESCO Ice Walk (winter hiking on the frozen Oeschinensee) offers a unique experience.
Note on walking on the frozen Oeschinensee:
* The lake is very slippery - be careful. We recommend ice spikes
* The temperatures are cold, wear good clothing!
